Founders
Bolbol was founded by two brothers whose shared surname inspired the brand:
Abolhasani + Abolhasani → Bolbol.
The name carries a second meaning too. In Persian, Bolbol (بلبل) is the nightingale - a bird celebrated for its beautiful, expressive song. There is even a Persian expression for someone who speaks fluently:œhe talks like a Bolbol. A platform built to help people speak new languages could not have asked for a better name.
Our Story
Ilia was preparing for a French language exam and built a simple learning website for himself. It occurred to him that he could share it with others for free, and it was quickly embraced by thousands of learners who encouraged him to expand it.
He then teamed up with his older brother, Amir, and together they set out to build a comprehensive learning platform for anyone preparing for a language exam - not just French, but every language. That is how Bolbol was born.
